Eligibility

The submitted story must be at least 1,000 words long, or be a serialised story or collection of short stories that have two updates of 500 words or more each in the month of May.
The winner of the previous competition cannot compete in this current competition.
Only one submission per person.
Nomination deadline: the last day of the month
The competition is open for a month, followed by a one week, multi-poll vote.
If there are less than 5 submissions, the competition is extended for another month.
Usually authors nominate their own work. If you would like to nominate somebody else's work, please ask for the author's approval first (or encourage the author to nominate his work)!

Advertisement Rules
Advertising is allowed in the official advertising board and in story threads. Any other kind of direct advertising to advocate nominees is prohibited. Those who breach this rule shall be disqualified for 3 months.

Asking for votes is not allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification and ban of 3 months from the Competition forums.

The competition manager will take whatever steps necessary to insure the integrity of the competition.

FIRST PLACEgoes to Heiro de Bodemloze's tale of Sengoku Japan, the tale of one young boy who grew up to lead his clan in battle: The Tale of Nobutada 2.0 is a magnificent work of both writing skill and personal perseverance. Many congratulations for being the first ever winner of the MCWC - may your pen stay ever sharp and delight all with your captivating tale!

SECOND PLACEgoes to one of the blue legions. Dance brings us a most unusual story from the jungles of Africa where boys need to become men fast if they are to live, and lives are taken at a whim. It is a brutal tale of one boy soldier as he rises through the ranks of one of the world's most brutal environments.Histories of a Boy Soldier is a must read for anyone who seeks something slightly off the beaten track - and indeed anyone who is simply after a bit of literary magic.

THIRD PLACEgoes to Scottish King whose story Tales of Acamar: Outbreak takes us to a galaxy far away to a complex game of political chess and manipulation. The imagination involved in this story is brilliance and is a must read.

Congratulations to our winners!

Competing not only with each other but with Spring (Break), the vb4 transition, the absence of rep icons and random extreme weather, our writers finally completed MAARC #44 which we call XLIV to sound more classy and fit the upcoming TW title as well. Ironically, no classical era stories made it to the top three, but with only a few months to Rome II we can forecast some good times ahead.

FIRST PLACE goes to Robin de Bodemloze's epic tale, the Takeda. For long months, the struggle for mastery over Japan kept many of us hooked on this story, its unforgettable characters and beautiful scenery. With this the Takeda cavalry and their storytelling master have secured four MAARC victories, more than any single AAR before. The story is now over with an ending worthy of the AAR's fame and glory - there has never been a better time for going back and start reading it again, especially that the writer treated us with afterthoughts on this monumental work.


At SECOND PLACE we have Strengelicher who took us to the Holy Lands and relive history with the Crusader States. As Prince Alphonse would say 'Praise the Lord!' as this story seems to be far from the end, giving countless hours of reading pleasure for those of us who like the most dramatic theater of war in human history. Excellent storytelling and nicely developed characters make this AAR one of the best crusader stories out there which deserves a lot of attention.


Our THIRD PLACE winner is Schrödinger's story, Restoring Rome - which has little to do with Rome per se, rather its famous successor, the Byzantine Empire. Paraphrasing the writer, the web of intrigue, lies and deceit was spun over more than 200 posts. Since the AAR is currently on hold, this gives us an opportunity to catch up before it is continued and see where the emperors are in restoring Rome to its former glory.
