okay. I just uninstalled medieval 2, so that I can try a new mod (third age)

However... something has happened. I reinstalled and the mod didn't work properly. I decided to check, and kingdoms isn't even loading anymore.

I have at this point reinstalled 3 times, and I get the same error each time.

I use Windows XP professional, if that helps.

Upon loading a mod (stainless steel/third age) It will go to the main screen, but crash with an "unknown error" upon a second or so into loading a custom battle/new campaign.

Upon using the launcher-- same thing.

Kingdoms.exe-- I get a second or two of loading of the MEDIEVAL 2 TOTAL WAR screen (the one with the knights charging out at you) and then I get a wierd error, I can't read what it says, but it's a tiny box. Then I have to click "ok" and it dies.

I was just playing yesterday, when I wanted to try the new mod, mods and kingdoms both worked fine!!

I install the game, then kingdoms (I have gold, the one with disk 1 medieval 2, disk 2 kingdoms) and isntall one campaign (teutonic) and directx. I restart, then install the 1.05 patch (necessary for the mod)

Then I test it, and it breaks each time.

Finally, medieval 2 works fine-- only kingdoms is bad.

My next step will be to redownload the patch, it's ancient, so maybe that's it.

This is frustrating as blazes!

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I recently encountered. I...

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I recently encountered. I have been using an original copy of Medieval II: Total War for about three years now on the same computer and never run into any problems until tonight. I recently got DSL and decided to download the v. 1.01, v. 1.02, and v. 1.03 patches for the game so that I could try out the 100 Years War mod.

All the installations worked fine, and after they were completed (but before restarting my computer after the v. 1.02 patch was installed, as the setup recommended) I even was able to run both Medieval II and The 100 Years War mod with no problems. After rebooting my computer, however, something changed and both Medieval and The 100 Years War now are in the wrong resolution, cutting off the top and right sides of the screen (if I try to play now I can't even see the next turn button). This problem can not be fixed by changing my monitor's resolution outside the game (tried that), or by changing the resolution on in-game graphics using the Video Settings menu (tried that too). As I said, this effects both versions of the game, making me believe that the problem is related to the patches I installed, although I can't say for certain.

For reference, I am running an AMD Athalon 2.3 GHz processor with 1256 Kb RAM and a Radeon 9250 videocard. Please help me, this is my favorite game!

Medieval 2 total war.. what keeps happening?

owight guys.. ive just signed up to your forum, its very helpfull with some really good advice, but i cant seem to find any help for my little problem, did i say little prob, i ment bloody huge prob....lol

somet keeps happening on medieval 2 total war, and it driving me crazy, no matter what i do i cant stop it..

ok, well every other turn one of my captains/generals whatever, gets the traitor to his people message up and i lose him and the entire army along with him.. in the past 15 maybe 20 turns, i have lost 13 full armies because of this and im not sure why.... im losing them faster then i can build them now.. does anybody know why this is happening?? ive lost the odd one every now and again, since i started, but nowt to cry about, but recently there droping like flies... its driving m crazy,

i first thought maybe its cause i cant afford to pay them so it the games way of keeping my money flowing, but as im earning nearly 75000 profit per turn, and have nearly 3 million in the bank it ain't that, and seeing that i own 75% of the map, it cant be because i dont have enough cities to keep em.. if that makes any sense...

ive taken all the map up to russia and wiped them out, now im currently holding my position down towards where the Timmurids region is, and same on the other side of the map, ive taken all of it to where ive wiped out the mores as well, and to where the Timmurids start up again... pretty much blocked them in on all sides, as were the only 2 factions left, and i find it difficult to beat them back.. i need serious renforcements.. im getting attacked by the Timmurids and there damm elephants and getting battered by em.. and as long as i keep losing my armies to some stupid rule they have, im gonna lose my foothold on them.... and odviously it wont be pretty if there break through my defences and start spreding out round my region.. if you know what i mean

i really need some help here guys... anyone knows why this keeps happening or how i can stop it from happening...

any help will be really apperchated..

thanks

Right so. I constantly play M2TW, addicted. I started it up and it said it had encountered an unspecified error and had to exit. I uninstalled Kingdoms, then uninstalled M2TW, and then reinstalled M2TW. I then went on to install Kingdoms, and it was patching M2TW when it froze, so I aborted that. I rebooted the installer for Kingdoms, and then it said something like the version wont work. Bottom line, it wont patch M2TW anymore. So then I said, hey, who cares? And tried to boot up regular M2TW and the original unspecified error happened again. Help!

I rescently came back to M2:TW and for some reason my game wouldn't launch. As such, I uninstalled and reinstalled both the Vanilla and Kingdoms. Now all the kingdoms's options launch fine, but the original wont launch.

If it helps, im using Vista, previously had TLR mod installed... oddly enough, the TLR options still appear to be available tho they obviously dont work either (as I assume they were removed with the uninstal). I'd really like to get back to the original vanilla version, and I'm totally at a loss... any and all assistance would be uber-appreciated.

Edit: On more in-depth review, I've noticed that Kingdoms campaigns aren't auto-saving. Don't know if its linked to the other problem, but its obviously not WAI
