Imperfection is a small skin mod which I will be working on over the next however long. The idea is that the ancients did not have access to the dyes and materials we have now. They would certainly not have had bright red clothing, for instance. I am making the colours more natural, dulling them and considering what dyes they had access to. I have also added and changed some aspects of the skins for variety between factions.
I have made the colours of the principes darker and richer than those of the hastati, for instance, because the principes were of higher class and wealth than the (usually younger) hastati, and much more wealthy than the velites.

I like the idea and hope you do all the units, at least for the Romans. Also, it's not that they didn't have the dyes, it was the materials. They would have had leathers and cottons that don't dye as brightly and richly as coloured silk (which they had in the far east like China and Japan.) BTW, can you fix that clipping problem that later Romans have in their shoulders? Both the chainmail and banded mail (early and later legions/generals/praetorians/urbans) have it. |
