  1. Well History as a major and a career is somewhat possible, but in the case of a career unless you are a historian, archeologist/anthropologist or a museum curator, it's more limited in what you can do. More it seems like history as a major is knowledge but without a necessarily skill to apply that knowledge unless you're one of the mentioned occupations. It seems to be very valuable as a pre-req for stuff like lawyers though.
  2. So I guess the history career is just for "fun" . Its always smart to have something you enjoy doing and have something you can make some cash on.
  3. Nah. Teaching is a noble pursuit but not one I'd ever want to really do. I'm hoping to get involved in NGOs, international organizations, diplomacy or the state department.
  4. Yeah, thats usually the catch, better school = bigger wallet. Oops just noticed, yeah I meant UOV , I drank a double shot o' redbull that day so I was a bit jittery. Yeah, Middle eastern history seems like a good path to go through, are you thinking of being a historian of some sort? Pretty neat job by my standards.
  5. Present or the past, the whole range of it interests me. I recently found out UVA has it, but I think as a minor or generally doesn't highlight it as much as I'd have liked. So I might end up at University of Arizona in the long haul...um, I think you meant UOA instead of UVA, so nevermind. Either way, it's a shame that the best universities for it are in Northern Virginia/DC (which is good), and are mad expensive (which is not).
  6. Well, good luck. Hope all goes well at UoV. Middle eastern studies? Is that present or a particular era of middle eastern history? Pretty interesting stuff, Ive always wanted to learn more but never seem to have the time....
  7. Not too amazing for me. I am doing history as a placeholder, I need to transfer to somewhere that offers International Studies/relations and/or Middle Eastern studies. I think UvA has both, and I'd minor in either French, Communications/Journalism, or maybe Int. Business.

Right now just doing gen-eds to get rid of them until I get somewhere that I can do my actual major's (intended) classes. And I'll be happy to take on UVA's ego in exchange for stepping out from under the shadow of the Hokies. We have more people in Purple and Maroon than we do in our own colors. The College of the Highlander is like a Wales to those English turkeys!
  8. Nice the Virginia Schools are amazing, though UVA is kinda full of themselves.....

    What you majoring in?
  9. Actually I put that because for some reason at the time I didn't want to reveal where exactly I was going. But I'm a dude and not a chick, so that doesn't matter. I go to Radford University, aiming to transfer to UVA.
  10. You go to Virginia Tec? I see you live near Blacksburg
