Heh, yeah...I'd feel sorry for him if not for the fact that he apparently still enjoys minor celebrity-dom outside of academic circles.
That post was a great read. Still, this part made me smile: Their rhetoric have waned a bit since 9/11 (as a footnote, I don't understand why Fukuyama hasn't been thoroughly discredited, especially when the stuff he's written since is even more erroneous than the book that jettisoned him to fame). I smiled because I just noticed recently that it's standard practice to criticize Fukuyama's claims in essays and discussions. In fact I was thinking to myself what a crappy fate it must be for a scholar, to have your views become the plaything of students around the world, casually derided in even the most mediocre undergraduate essay . Still, I guess he had it coming, I mean I wouldn't disagree with your judgement of his work above...
