Also starting in 1492 will give time to meso-american empires to expand and survive, 1520 is too close of spanish domination of meso-american empires. And you can see on Atlas, the map from 1492 and 1520 looks about the same, but theres alot of important events before 1520, such discovery of brasil in 1500, treaty of tordesillas 1494 and much much more.
